Programs

The CCIT program is intended for youth ages 13 -17 with interest in working in a day camp setting (if applying at age 13 you must turn 14 by first day of camp). The program is designed to provide skills and training necessary to become a future leader at Hyattsville Summer Camp, or in any setting. The following will be discussed further through the training: detailed camp coach training, team and leadership training, participation in leading and creating camp activities, and developing skills to work with children. A prospective candidate should be enthusiastic and dedicated to learning and applying the topics listed above. The program has two phases: a pre-training course and hands-on experience. The pre-training course will take place a week prior to the start of summer camp. The hands- on experience takes place during camp when CCIT's will work alongside camp coaches and participate in daily duties as assigned. Placement is limited, and selections are on a first come first serve basis. Additionally, completing the CCIT program does not guarantee placement/employment during Summer Camp sessions.
